Tasty House Restaurant
7101 Roosevelt Rd. (708)788-1800
Great local Chinese food with an open kitchen so you
can see the environment of the food being prepared.
Sauces are not too sweet or thick and gooey.
If you call in an order, you better be ready to leave...
It seems like your food is ready as soon as you hang up the phone!

Wok n' Roll
6969 Ogden Ave. (708)788-0088
Another great local Chinese restaurant. They have a very
clean open kitchen and a large menu to choose from.
The sauces are very good and not too sweet or thick
and gooey. Everything is always prepared quickly and
the ingredients are always fresh... no canned mushrooms here.

Have you been looking for a great coffee house in town?
Search no more! Better Bean Cafe might be a little tough to find,
but it's well worth the hunt. Nestled away on Ogden, this is
Berwyn's best kept secret. Better Bean Cafe (formerly named
Caffé Palermo) serves up one of the best coffees...
Intelligentsia! Rated "Best Coffee" in the November '06 issue
of Chicago Magazine. They also serve espresso latte,
cappachinos, which can be served with a wide variety of
Monin flavoring. Also for the non-coffee drinkers they serve
a wonderful black currant iced tea, a delicious chai,
European sipping chocolate, and some of the best
hot cocoa around... that you can also flavor to your taste
with the Monin flavorings! Try a Hazelnut hot cocoa!
This is a great place to grab an espresso and biscotti while
you sit and talk or read the paper as the deep dark aroma
of freshly brewed coffee fills the air.
Czech Plaza Restaurant

Read the review from Chicago Magazine!
They have some of the last great Czech food around.
Plenty of great food at great prices!

Over The Rainbow An Olde Fashion Ice Cream Parlor
Visit their Website
6836 Windsor Ave. (708)795-6836
This is a beautiful new place that just opened in the
Depot District with a true old-time feel to it.
They feature over 30 flavors of HERSHEY'S Brand Ice Cream.
The ice cream is quite nice, without being overly sweet
or having the heavy dairy taste of many other ice
cream places. There is a great selection of flavors
worth mentioning... try the Raspberry Roadrunner,
Chocolate with Peanut Butter, Carmel Cookie Dough,
Moose Tracks, and of course the plain and simple Strawberry.
This is a great place to go with the family after a meal just
down the block at La Notte. Definitely work these guys into
your summer evening walks.

Tacos y Salsa
6346 26th Street (708)749-3581
This is the best Mexican food for the price that we
have found. It's one of those great "hole in the wall"
kind of places. We have found this to be the best food
for the money. This is a newer place and the sign out
front might be a bit misleading... but who cares!
Laura (the owner) had always dreamed of opening her
own restaurant... and she did a great job. More often
than not, you will see Laura in the kitchen helping prepare
much of the food. The service is always attentive and
your food is always wonderful. They have a great open
kitchen so you can watch your order being prepared
with fresh ingredients as you wait. They have by far
the best fresh made guacamole around! Free salsa and
chips are served if you dine-in. They serve a couple of
homemade salsas daily (no canned tomatoes or jarred
salsas here), a Salsa Verde and a wonderful Salsa
con Chili de Arbol... If you like it hot, these salsas have
both heat and flavor. The Tacos, Burritos, and Quesadillas
are always a great choice and Laura also prepares a
wide selection of wonderful authentic seafood dishes.
The menu is also very vegetarian friendly and if you
don't see something on the menu, just ask, they are
always very good about trying to accommodate.
Another "Must Try" recommendation by the Informer.

Cinco Hermanos Restaurant
6500-4 W. 16th Street (708)788-0600
This is a very clean and family friendly atmosphere.
The food is good and they serve free salsas and chips.
There is also a nice little grocery store next door that you
can buy some of the restaurants salsas at.
Well worth giving a try.

Old Fashioned Candies, Inc.
6210 W. Cermak Rd. (708)788-6669
This candy and chocolate shop has been in Berwyn for
almost 30 years and is a blast from the past. The shop
is decorated with hand-crank candy machines and
chocolate molds, some are 150 years old! They are known
as "Home of French Creams" but they have a great
selection of other chocolates as well. Many of the chocolates,
such as their "Trinimoms" give Fannie May a run for
their money. Their dark chocolate is very good, with a nice
"clean" taste. They also have a large selection of hard
candies and specialty shaped chocolates for special orders
of any budget. All of their candies, except brand name
varieties, are made on site.

Pierres Bakery
6310 Cermak Rd. (708)788-8660
This wonderful local bakery has it all! They have an
amazing cake with layers of chocolate and vanilla
cake separated by a later of strawberry mousse
with tiny chocolate chips, only to be topped with
giant sized, delicious chocolate covered strawberries.
Pierres has also been written up by David Jakubiak
of the Chicago Suntimes. "One of three Pierre's in
Chicagoland, the Berwyn location is palatial --
6,000 square feet with sparkling granite counters sitting
atop cases filled with high calorie goodness worthy
of a pastry competition on the Food Network.
Specializing in cakes for special events like graduations
and weddings, they are constantly introducing new styles
to keep things fresh. For smaller events -- or fellas
looking to impress -- there's also a Pierre's flower
shop right next door."
